Dental Implants

There are times when only the best cosmetic dentistry procedure will do. Dental implants fall into this category.

Dental implants can be the answer if you have missing teeth, which can cause not only unsightly gaps between teeth, but also more damage caused by shifting teeth. Dental implants may also be a good solution for you if you wear dentures.

The benefits of dental implants

A dental implant can secure one, or many, teeth. As you might imagine, there are many benefits to having the permanency of dental implants. They:

  • are solid support for your new teeth
  • feel like your natural teeth, and
  • are a great alternative to dentures.

While dentures may solve a number of dental issues, dental implants that anchor your dentures and render them immovable can raise the bar on dental treatment, feeling as much like your natural teeth as possible.

By its very design, an implant will blend in with the way your natural teeth look and feel. Your dental implants will feel more natural while eating, too. With implants, you are better aware of where food is placed in your mouth while chewing, since the plastic of the denture does not cover much of your mouth.

And finally, once a tooth is replaced with an implant, it prevents the bone from shrinking away, thus preventing future dental issues.

The procedure for dental implant placement

A dental implant acts as an artificial root of your tooth and supports a dental crown, bridgework, or dentures. The implant itself is a metal, screw-like post, that is placed by a qualified periodontist. In most instances, I can refer you to a periodontist, with whom I already have a great working relationship. He and I work closely together in the initial planning stages of your dental treatment, as well as throughout the entire process.

Once the implant is prepared to take the crown, I complete the implant by creating a crown that precisely fits onto it.

During the entire dental implant placement, my highest priorities are overseeing your dental care, ensuring your comfort, and answering your questions. I think you’ll agree that anything closest to feeling like your own natural teeth could be your best course of dental treatment. Together, we will decide the right plan for you.

Care of your dental implants

Since dental implants are permanent, they don’t need to be removed for cleaning. This benefit alone is sometimes the strongest reason why some patients make this decision. It’s a terrific quality of life choice, and a properly maintained dental implant can last for many years—possibly a lifetime.

If you’d like to schedule a free consultation to discuss the benefits of dental implants, or any other cosmetic dentistry issue, I’d love to talk to you about your concerns and how I can help. Together, we will decide what is the best dental treatment for you—a plan that works with your budget, your time, and your goals for better oral health.

Dr. Zanni and team are as good as it gets. Their receptionist - Ginny, is a true professional and a pleasure to deal with. The whole experience was absolutely painless and actually enjoyable (this is from someone whose had some bad dentist experiences at other places). Dr. Zanni truly cares about his clients, I felt comfortable and at home at his office and he will be my dentist for the long-haul. Thank you!
